Kate Ross
Grades Teacher
From her early years, Kate enjoyed an active childhood spent outdoors, whether splashing in the lake, exploring nearby trails, or playing in the snow with her older brother. In 2017, Kate moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, to attend Colorado State University (CSU). Initially pursuing a degree in Conservation Biology, she soon discovered her passion for Early Childhood Education.
During her time at CSU, Kate completed a practicum at River Song Waldorf School, where she became deeply inspired by the Waldorf philosophy. She continued to cultivate her understanding of this approach by working as a substitute teacher at the school. In the spring of 2021, Kate earned her B.S. in Early Childhood Education and Teacher Licensure from CSU.
Following graduation, Kate gained valuable experience as an Older Preschool teacher at CSU’s Lab School. While she cherished her time nurturing young children and developing her skills as an educator, she realized her profound connection to River Song and the Waldorf approach. This led her back to River Song, where she served as the Assistant Director.
In the summer of 2023, Kate returned to Wisconsin and contributed to the Kettle Moraine Summer Academy, working with children in Kindergarten through Second Grade. During the 2023-24 school year, she further developed her appreciation for this age group while working as a Second Grade Paraprofessional at Big Bend Elementary School. However, Kate's desire to return to a Waldorf environment persisted, and she has now found her new professional home at Prairie Hill.
