Prairie Hill Waldorf School began as a group of committed parents, Waldorf educators and community members who studied and worked together for three years to bring Waldorf education to the Waukesha area in the state of Wisconsin.  This initiative arose from an established biodynamic agricultural community in East Troy.  The school was incorporated by Grant Abert, Elizabeth Bashaw, Martina Mann and Rachel Schneider.  Renting space from the Bethel United Methodist Church in New Berlin, Prairie Hill Waldorf School engaged its founding teacher, Cynthia Aldinger, and opened its doors in 1987 to twelve children for a three-day kindergarten program.  In its second year, the school offered a five-day program and grew to eighteen children with a waiting list.  The positive response to Prairie Hill’s program led to the decision to begin a grade school and grow to a kindergarten through eighth grade Waldorf school.
